skills to new heights! Learn something not taught at Yale !
Learn* how to rock climb at Alexandria's Sportrock Gym. Sportrock's
instructors will provide two hours of instruction (safety, knots, climbing
techniques, etc.), followed by two hours of free climbing in small groups.
All equipment is provided (wear sneakers). The gym is a few blocks from the Van Dorn metro station. *minimum age 14, under 18 needs parent or guardian.
Waiver
- A climbing waiver can be downloaded here or completed on site. BOTH CLIMBERS
AND OBSERVERS WHO WILL BE ON THE GYM FLOOR need to complete the waiver.
- All participants under 18 years of age must have a waiver filled out and
signed by their PARENT or legal guardian. (No
letters or phone calls from parents in lieu of the waiver.)
- Please print the participant's birth date and address on the waiver. For
this event, climbers must be 14 years of age or older to participate. No exceptions.
- Those over 18 years of age may fill out and sign the waiver at
Sportrock.
- Waivers will be collected on the day of the event for CLIMBERS AND
OBSERVERS. Those without a properly completed waiver WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO
CLIMB.
What to Wear
- Comfortable athletic clothing: Sportrock is climate controlled,
but may still be chilly in winter and warm in summer.
- Pants: Sweatpants, long shorts, or tights work
best.
- Helmets: Bring your bicycle helmets or use our climbing helmets.
Though helmets are cleaned after being used, Sportrock is not responsible for anything transmitted.
- Athletic shoes. Sandals or boots are not allowed. (NOTE: Sportrock
does not provide shoes for these groups.)

per person.
